What better way to promote a car than to have a nine times world rally champion do the talking and driving. This guy could sell me a picture of a car, claiming it's the real thing.

A boring man talking about a hybrid Citröen. I think I know what to do now when the picture of a Accord fails to beat my insomnia.

Pop-up HUD is nice though. There when you want it, not there when you don't.

I'd like to apply for some of this guy's boredom, because I believe I've had enough of being so awesome already.

Well, of course we all do. He stands in one of the most desirable positions of motor racing ever! What he does for a living, that's absurdly exciting. But honestly... he was never fun to watch (beside the pikes peak thing this year, of course). He won 9 years in a row, but still, it all looks so kind of boring, so unenthusiastic. He has a massive fanbase, but all rally fanatics I personally know find him boring and don't care for him at all. He's just boring to watch!

He could be talking about a McLaren F1 GTR and make it sound boring!

WRC has been so exciting since his departure.

I hear you. Never into too much slides or flamboyant flicks, unless it's the most effective way to go around the corner. He was about winning and being effective to the point that it was insanely boring - never a crash or a mistake, never anything about emotions, until Sebastien Ogier came into picture and provoked some reactions.

Sort of picture such guy having a very fun life, but what do we know really. I for one see rallying as a given thing, something to have fun in and enjoy the hell out of it, if possible. To him it was all that + a job and some sort of a mission. Never a loud mouth, and always sort of kept to himself. Is he a perfect example of new corporate-friendly type of racing driver? Hard to say. He let the entertainers do the entertaining and he opted for winning. Was the WRC boring in last couple of years - yes it was to an extent, but I blame FIA for fucking up the sport so royally.

This picture however made me realize this guy actually is not a Borg, kept in his charging station when he's not competing. Whatever it takes to win things and be the best, Mr. Loeb! :)

You make a very good point. He is human after all, we just don't see it. And this kind of bothers us... we're like teenagers pointing our fingers at a popstar, ahahahah.

"effective to the point that he was insanely boring"

Perfect.

He was a man on a mission, robotic. He looks like a sponsor appliance, a puppet.
- Go there and break some records, will ya? And when you reach it, don't forget to put on the sponsor's hat.

Sponsor hat is mandatory! Although I do prefer Loeb type of modern driver to Vettel type, talking without stopping, like a singing brochure shooting out praises to the team, the sponsors...

Perhaps we're just not worthy of being able to understand the high life that is multiple world rally champion - I'm sure he's one hell of a guy outside of racing, but he's not giving up his own character in order to appear as friendly as a Labrador Retriever, ready to make friends with just about any random guy out there. :)
